an art krewe for more than mardi gras
We've all got to wash up somewhere!
We've all got to wash up somewhere!
A new generation, bohemian krewe founded by a New Orleans native who wants to help close the gap between the new flotsam floating down the Mississippi and those of us who've been here for a while.
We aim to put on interesting, creative, and boundary-pushing events to bond, contribute, and make something new.
We are actively recruiting. There's no krewe without a crew.
On April Fools' Day, Krewe de Tritus will be putting on a poetry open-mic like no other.
Boo your friends! Get booed yourself! Try something adventurous and new.
Anybody who's been to a poetry reading likely knows that they suck. Often, the poetry is god-awful, and the crowd is detached, full either of people who are just waiting to read themselves or the friends they dragged along. The responses are disingenuous snaps and the poetry equally milquetoast.
Try instead to just get booed! Write something stupid, write something controversial, perform your magnum opus, all without any of the pressure of wondering what the crowd will think. They're going to boo no matter what, so just have fun with it.
If you're not the reading type, that's fine. Your reaction is set in stone, so you can focus on deciding how you actually about the poem.
